A shot log is used to keep track of all the shots that have been done this involves keeping track of what shots are useable, the length of the shots and wither you are going to use it or not. This is done while filming as this helps to save time.

Edit Log

An edit log is used for every editing technique that has been used on the footage. This involves keeping track of editing footage, audio, visual as well as title graphics.
